What is the Powell River Community Foudation?
The Powell River Community Foundation is a collection of charitable gifts from local citizens held, in perpetuity, to enhance the quality of life in their community. It is a public charity registered with Revenue Canada which allows individuals, families, businesses and non-profit organizations, through gifts and bequests, to establish a permanent endowment for the community.
How does the community benefit?
The Powell River Community Foundation provides a means of using charitable donations within our community and increasing the amount of funds available to all types of local organizations. It offers a permanent source of funding because only the investment income of the pooled funds is disbursed.
The foundation strives to use the income from the funds entrusted to it to serve the needs of Powell River and its citizens in seven areas of interest:
~ Arts and culture
~ Children and youth
~ Education
~ Environment and parks
~ Health and welfare
~ Seniors
~ Social Justice
How can I contribute to my community foundation?
Simply said, anyone can give any amount. The advantage of a growing pool of capital is that it will in turn generate more and more income to be used to achieve community goals.
How do I apply for a grant?
You can pick up a grant kit at the Powell River Academy of Music or Remax. Complete it and return it to:
